Understand that the majority of web traffic is driven by the major commercial search engines, Google, Ask, Bing, and Yahoo.

Although, your website can generate traffic from other sources such as social media platforms, forums sites, etc.

Another unique thing about search engines traffic is that they provide targeted traffic, the exact people looking for what you offer. So if search engines cannot find your site, or add your content to their databases, you miss out of attracting targeted traffic.

Even though SEO can be done in many ways, there are the main and effective SEO methods that are required by search engines for your website to rank well; the followings are some of such:

1. SEO titles, headers and URL

2. Back linking

3. Internal linking

4. Writing SEO content

5. Keyword Density

6. Regular updates

7. The use of multimedia

SEO titles, headers and URL

Remember that the title of a webpage is different from its heading. The title is displayed on the ‘tab’ of that webpage while the heading is displayed in the webpage itself.

When you enter a search term (keyword) in a search engine box, the search engine tries to find websites whose title; heading and URL address matches the given keyword.

If the title, heading or the URL address of a website matches your keyword, then that website is given a higher ranking than others.

For example, if the keyword you entered is “data recovery”, a website having the URL address such as “http://www.” is given a higher ranking than a website having any other URL address.

It is therefore advisable that we insert our major keyword in our URL address.

Each time you visit a webpage, usually you will see several hyperlinks linking that webpage to another websites entirely.

These links are known as back-links or out bound links. Wikipedia is a good example for back-links. All the reference websites are listed at the bottom of a Wikipedia article.

These hyperlinks (at the bottom of an article) are back-links of the respective reference websites.

Out bound links or Back-links help to increase the ranking of a website. Generally, the more back-links a website has, the higher its ranking.

Internal Linking

Internal links are links that go from one page on a website to a different page on the same website. They are also called inbound links, commonly used in main navigation.

These types of links are useful for three reasons:

They allow users to navigate a website.
They help establish information hierarchy for the given website.
They help spread link juice (ranking power) around websites.

When search engine crawls a website, it needs to see seo contents in order to list such pages in their massive keyword based indices.

Search engines also need to have access to a crawlable link structure, a structure that lets spiders browse the pathways of a website in order to find all of the pages located on a website.

Writing SEO content

Content is the king they say. Search engines try to match the entered keyword with the content of websites. For example, if your keyword is “best android video player”, the search engine will search for articles having the term “best android video player”.

Because there will be millions of articles having the term ” best android video player” in them, search engine will then rank these articles according to the “keyword density” of the articles.

SEO Keyword Density

Keyword density is calculation of dividing the number of keywords in the article by the total number of words and then multiplying the result by 100.

For example, if a thousand worded articles have the keyword “best android video player” repeated thrice in it, the article has a keyword density of 3%. However, articles having a keyword density of 0.5 – 3% are generally given the highest ranking in search engine result pages.

The use of multimedia

It is a common knowledge that almost everybody prefers graphical (graphics, videos and flash applications) websites, to plain-text websites. The majority of search engines know this and therefore; they give websites containing multimedia a higher ranking than other websites.

Regular updates

We humans have an unquenchable thirst for new information and facts; therefore, majority of search engines understands this so they address this need by giving the websites which are regularly updated a higher ranking than other websites.
